CASCA2021 is a virtual conference and this page provides information on how the conference will run. It is a little more complicated than the usual physical CASCA AGM!
The CASCA2021 website is a source of information about the conference including our Code of Conduct, important dates, information for, and about, speakers and poster presenters, and links to registration and abstract submission.
Whova is the conference platform and will serve as Grand Central Station for CASCA2021. Whova is available via your desktop browser (Chrome preferred) as well via a phone app.
Whova provides an Attendee Guide that you should read before the CASCA AGM
Slack will be used to handle the posters for CASCA2021. Here are some links to help you get started with Slack if you haven’t used it before
More information to be provided.
Gather.Town will be used a the gathering place for the Reception and Social Break sessions of CASCA2021. Gather is a video-calling space that lets multiple people hold separate conversations in parallel, walking in and out of those conversations. People can move around and interact with other participants based on your locations in the room, just like real life. Users easily start and end side conversations and chats, or return to a main speaker just as at a real-world conference or other gathering. Rather than being moved to a Zoom breakout room, in Gather.town, you can simply walk your online self to tables and chairs, sit down, and start a conversation.
Some Gather.town instructions.
Remo. which will be used for the CASCA2021 banquet, is a platform in which you can interact with others in a virtual environment. We strive to help you connect your events virtually without compromising the human dimension. With this in mind, the Remo team has built a platform that encapsulates the same feeling of attending a networking event, classroom, innovative workshop, or company reunion, while bringing it right to your laptop.
The CASCA2021 banquet will allow our talented attendees to share their musical and other talents with their friends and colleagues. We invite all musicians, singers, comedians, poets, story tellers, or other performers (e.g., jugglers) to participate. More details to follow
CASCA2021 will feature a Games night where attendees can play the popular online game Among Us! The game takes place in a space-themed setting, in which players each take on one of two roles, most being Crewmates, and a predetermined number being Impostors. The goal of the Crewmates is to identify the Impostors, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map; the Impostors’ goal is to covertly sabotage and kill the Crewmates before they complete all of their tasks.
